Melbourne Vacation Diary

Hi, guys!
Proven by the length of this post, I was more aware of taking more pics for le blog. Perhaps because we took less pre-wed photos here but anyway, here are the couple of days I spent in the endearing city of Melbourne.

Day One

We had an 8AM flight and after checking in at Short Stay Melbourne Apartment (highly recommended!), rested for an hour or two, we met up with our long lost uni friend. Nita (middle). She's currently staying in Melbourne and sort of became our tour guide.

This H&M is located at the used to be a post office building which locals called GPO building. The inside is HUGE you guys. I did browsed around quickly but couldn't find anything I like. We browsed around other stores near there and then had a gyutandon dinner at Menya. It's a quiet famous place a couple years back and still quite popular 'til today. It is said to be the place to get your gyutandon fix. Don't forget to mix it with the (sesame?) oil they provided in your table!

Day Two

On a Saturday, our first stop was Brighton Beach Boxes which you can read all about it here.

After a sunny morning absorbing our Vitamin D needs, we went straight to Saint Kilda and had a delicious fish n chips at Pink Flake Fish n Chips. Do get that Bundaberg Brewed Drink, it's Australian made and we especially love the Coconut Pineapple. In fact, we loved it so much, we came back to Pink Flake and got another bottle of that flavor.

Enjoying the cool yet sunny weather in St. Kilda with my nephew.

From Pink Flake we then walk about 5 minutes to Luna Park. There is no entrance fee if you just want to take pics but you do have to buy tickets for a ride (about $15-$20/ride). The place was quiet crowded but nothing crazy. I only ride the carousel and took a bunch of pics for our pre-wed photos.

From Luna Park, my friend, Nita, and her husband drove us to park where we took pre-wed photos. We then proceed, by walking, around 15 mins, to Parliament of Victoria for an even more pre-wed photos. Since it was a Saturday, you can took pics freely. If it's weekdays, there will be people working there so I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to take pics on weekdays.

Parliament of Victoria. Love the columns!

We had dinner at Fomo Thai in the city and we do love everything except for the undercooked Pad Thai. I do suggest the pork dish on top left, the tom yum, and the chicken dish at bottom right.

Day Three

On Sunday we went to explore Yarra Valley which you can read all bout it by clicking here. After that we had dinner at Rustic Thai Kitchen. We originally wanted to try the famous Jinda Thai but there was a long wait list so if you do want to try eating there, I'd suggest book ahead.

Day Four

So Monday is our last full day and we decided to finally spend some money on shopping. We head straight to South Wharf DFO. Before we tortured our bank account, we fill our stomach with this most delicious pho at Signature Pho Viet, which is also located at DFO. So the factory outlet is quiet coherent. There are Adidas, Asics, Nike, Kate Spade, Furla, Coach, and Calvin Klein, to name a few. I got home with a new pair of sneakers from Onitsuka Tiger, a Calvin Kelin watch that had been in my wishlist for the last three years, and this pretty Cotton On dress I had my eyes on when we went to the St. Kilda' store.

We stayed at DFO from around 10.30AM to around 1PM. We then head to Kuu Cafe + Japanese Kitchen for lunch. LOVE the food but the place is very small. We ended splitting our group of 9 people into two tables.

Melbourne is best known for its coffee so I made an effort to try their coffee at Higher Ground. A hidden gem only across the street from our apartment. And it didn't disappoint! Their almond croissant is also top notch. Had a pleasant time catching up with another friend, Elvina, over a cup of cappuccino.

We then proceed for an early dinner at Little Ramen Bar, recommended by my friend' husband. I wish I could say I loved it, but after waitlisted over 3 names, I expected more flavour. Ended up not liking this one. After dinner, my fiancee and I went to State Library of Victoria which you can read all about it here, while the rest of the group went home.

Day Four

Last day is our six and a half flight home. I didn't do much sleeping, I watched The Accountant, played my Gardenscapes, eat, watch La La Land, drinks some more apple juices, watched an episode of The Big Bang Theory altho I already watched that episode but I loved TBBT that much and we finally landed safely.

Thank you so much for reading and I put the names of places I visited in bold red.
Wishing everyone a great midweek!
