Classic & Timeless Outfits

Hi, everyone.
While I love keeping up to date with fashion, there's just something about classic pieces that translates as ageless and timeless. Timeless means not affected by the passage of time or changes in fashion. Timeless outfit means outfit that lasts for several seasons, even years, and is accepted by a wide range of people. Timeless style are those outfits that you don't have to think about. You just know they will be acceptable from one year to the next. So without further ado, here are five timeless outfit ideas that you can refer to for those days when you just want to look nice without thinking and not looking outdated.

First up is a shirtdress. No matter what the occasion, a shirt dress will always be acceptable. I've worn this dress for grocery shopping, a coffee date, mall outings, and even a birthday luncheon once. Never did I look out of place or trying too hard, it's the beauty of a timeless outfit.

The bag and my sandal are also not new. They are about five years old and these two are still on heavy rotation in my closet. These two are a staple since they both are not too fashionable. All age can use the bag and the sandal. These two are an example of classic pieces that you can invest in. Don't be afraid to spend some money on classic pieces. They will last you for a long time.

Second timeless outfit idea is the one and only white shirt and blue jeans. It is a combo that has been tested and true. Any gender and any age can wear this combo and look instantly chic. With this outfit, it's just a matter of accessorizing to create a different vibe. I use gold hoop earrings, black heels, and black bag for an elevated casual outfit that I would wear for meeting with friends over coffee. For running errands, simply ditch the earrings and switch your heels to a slip on sandal. This timeless outfit combo looks great on any season and plenty of ocassion.

I find gold chunky metal watch a classic and match perfectly with simple outfit like this one.
The gold also compliments the gold hardware on my bag.
A match made in heaven indeed.

The third timeless outfit is a short sleeve shirt and a circle or half circle midi skirt. Taking cue from Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday. While I know this combo is a bit more vintage than what normal people would wear, it's still an acceptable outfit on plenty occasion. I've worn this combo for holiday, grocery shopping, meeting up with friends, lunch with the in-laws, and even a church service. The strongest suit of this outfit is that it is modest and eventho it looks casual, it's not TOO casual, but not exactly too dressed up either. Just the perfect level of trying. Personally, I've worn this combo A LOT. But I totally understand that this is not everyone's cup of tea.

From my summer lookbook last year.

Outfit number four of our timeless outfit ideas is a combo that everyone is already wearing. A black t-shirt and blue jeans combo. For t-shirt, I highly recommend to splurge. I find expensive t-shirt just looks much more luxe than the cheaper version. Since I committed to not buy cheap t-shirt anymore, I find myself wearing t-shirt a lot more often. And I know it's trendy, but buying t-shirt with the brand logo printed on your t-shirt is not a smart tactic. I'd say keep it neutral and brand-less.
For jeans, to get that timeless look, do get a dark wash, high waist, with no rip. Mine is old from Uniqlo and the shape is straight tapered. For petite ladies, I highly recommend to get this shape. Skinny and ripped jeans are not quite outdated yet but I would say to keep it in your closet for now. I do pray that low rise jeans are not making a comeback.

A denim jacket is also a timeless and classic piece that anyone of any gender and any age can wear. It does have a casual vibe to it but it also has that youthful feels. I find my mom looks five years younger when she's wearing a denim jacket. Highly recommend to splurge as well. Altho mine is thrifted ten years ago and still looks perfect; you just can't go wrong with a denim jacket. I own a total of four denim jacket. One is this one, another in slightly darker blue, one in black, and one in white. I wear all those four pretty often. Especially when days are chilly. They just look good with almost everything.

Last one from our timeless outfit ideas is a suit. It is yet another outfit that looks good on any gender of any age (well, maybe not girly little girl who most likely prefer princess dresses, but from teen to grandparents). A suit has been worn since 19th century and I'm sure will still be worn in a few decades to come. The only thing you need to pay attention to is the detailing (like lapels etc) and the fit. I would say normal fit is a good take. Nothing too small or cropped or oversized.
You can also use just the blazer to combine with outfit number two or outfit number four.

A cami is also a classic piece that I highly recommend to own. I've worn this exact outfit for a dinner date, a church service, and even to the malls. Works great for business events as well. Meeting clients or a seminar to attend.

You can never go wrong with nude heels and quilted chain bag as well.
Highly recommend to splurge on these as well.

Red suit for Chinese New Year.

Black suit for New Year's Eve.

Whoops, you made it until the end of this post. I know it's a lengthy one but it's also an informative one so I do hope you read this post. Have a great day.
