Went to Mecha Oishii Setrasari Bandung a few days ago. We went to Mecha Oishii Setrasari Bandung on a weekday for lunch and the place was empty. But customers started trickling in to Mecha Oishii Bandung when we started eating.
The first floor of Mecha Oishii Bandung is quite compact, but there’s a much more spacious second floor upstairs. The interior of Mecha Oishii Bandung has a warm Japanese-inspired feel with lots of wood, soft lighting, and little Japanese details throughout. There’s also an open kitchen, which is always fun because you can peek at the Mecha Oishii Bandung’ kitchen while they’re preparing your food.
🍗 Chicken Truffle Rice — 65K
I ordered the Chicken Truffle Rice, which comes with grilled chicken and creamy truffle sauce.
The chicken was nicely grilled and the sauce was creamy and comforting. The truffle flavour was quite subtle though — more of a hint rather than a strong truffle hit.
What I really liked was actually the rice. It was super soft and fluffy, with that nice Japanese rice texture. The portion was just right too.
🍙 Salmon Ikura Onigiri — 30K
My husband got the Salmon Ikura Onigiri.
His verdict? Just okay. 😂
Not bad, but apparently not memorable enough for him to have much to say about it either. So… I’ll just leave it at that.
🧋 Jelly Tea Cream
This one was a little complimentary treat we got after leaving a Google review.
It’s basically tea jelly topped with cream, and surprisingly, I quite liked it! The jelly makes it refreshing while the creamy topping adds some sweetness, so it kind of tastes like a milky tea dessert. Simple but nice.
🍵 Matcha Ice Cream — 18K
This was the star for both of us.
We liked it so much that we actually ordered a second cup. 😂
It’s creamy, not bitter, but still has that lovely umami matcha flavour. Sweet enough without being overly sweet, and everything just feels nicely balanced.
Definitely my favourite thing we had here.
Service was fine and everything went smoothly during our visit. I also liked that the open kitchen makes the place feel a little more lively.
Overall, Mecha Oishii is a nice little spot for affordable Japanese comfort food in Setrasari. The food we tried was decent, but that matcha ice cream? I’d happily come back for another cup. 💚
