Went to Rumah Bapak Dartoyo at Jalan Sumatera Bandung a few days ago. We went on a Saturday so we had trouble finding parking but fortunately still plenty of empty seats inside.
Upon entering Rumah Bapak Dartoyo, I definitely feel like I was transported back in time. Rumah Bapak Dartoyo has this charming blend of Dutch-colonial nostalgia and vintage European elegance with their rattan chairs, patterned tiles, and classic chandeliers here and there.
It feels like stepping into your rich grandparents home; the kind you’d imagine from the colonial era, but polished and cozy enough to enjoy your afternoon coffee.
As the name said, Rumah Bapak Dartoyo doesn’t have meals but they do have breads that go perfectly with their coffee.
I tried their cream brulee bread (Rp 16k) and I was really surprised because for the price, this one is really really good. The bread is super soft with a light cream filling that isn’t too sweet. The brulee topping has that thin crunchy layer that compliment the cream filling perfectly.
For the drink, I went with their iced coffee Es Kopi Dartoyo (Rp 25k). It has this nostalgic, old-school coffee flavor — creamy, comforting, and familiar — but still tastes modern and smooth. It reminded me of drinking my grandpa’s coffee when I was little… just, you know, the creamier more upgraded version.
For your information, they also sell their own beans & house blend if you’re interested in coffee.

Overall we had a very very nice time and we would definitely come back. I am a sucker for vintage houses (and an even bigger sucker for good coffee) and this Rumah Bapak Dartoyo was no exception.
