Hi, everyone.
Went to Chaniwa Tea House KBP Bandung a few days ago. We visited Chaniwa Tea House KBP Bandung on a Tuesday afternoon, and the place had such a peaceful atmosphere. With its Japanese-inspired architecture, beautiful bonsai trees, koi pond, and little red bridge, it felt like stepping into a different world. Definitely a nice spot to slow down and enjoy a cup of tea.

Chaniwa Tea House KBP has a lovely Japanese-inspired setting, complete with a traditional-looking entrance gate, stone pathways, carefully arranged greenery, and a beautiful bonsai collection. There are plenty of photo spots around the property, so you might find yourself taking more pictures than you planned.

The koi pond is another highlight! The koi are beautiful, and watching them swim around adds to the relaxing atmosphere. And of course, the bonsai collection deserves a special mention.

As someone who loves bonsai, I was especially happy to see so many beautiful trees here. Some are decades old and worth hundreds of millions of rupiah. Just imagine how much patience and care it takes to maintain these little masterpieces! I could spend quite some time admiring them.

The tea house itself has a warm, minimalist Japanese aesthetic, with wooden interiors, large windows, and comfortable seating. There’s an indoor seating area as well as a small outdoor area where you can enjoy the garden surroundings.

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that the seating is quite limited. There are only around five to six tables indoors and another three to four tables outdoors. The location is also a little tucked away, so getting here takes some planning.
Still, if you’re looking for somewhere peaceful to unwind, the atmosphere makes it worthwhile.

As the name goes, Chaniwa Tea House KBP isn’t the place to go for a full meal, as the menu focuses on tea, coffee, and pastries. But honestly, I think it’s perfect for a little afternoon tea break!

We visited during their soft opening period, so we were lucky enough to get promotional discounts on our orders. Here’s what we tried.

First up was the Yuzu Matcha (Natsumi Sora), originally priced at Rp60,000. We got a Rp12,000 discount, bringing it down to Rp48,000. I really enjoyed this one! The matcha had a refreshing citrusy twist from the yuzu, making it feel light and refreshing. It’s a lovely choice if you want something a little different from your usual matcha latte.

We also ordered the Banana Caramel Matcha (Natsumi Kyarameru), which was originally Rp65,000. With a Rp13,000 soft opening discount, we paid Rp52,000. This one was creamier and sweeter, with banana on top and that lovely umami flavour from the matcha balancing the sweetness. If you prefer a richer, creamier matcha drink, this would be a good choice.

For pastries, we had the Strawberry Cheesecake Danish, originally priced at Rp34,000. We received a Rp3,400 discount, bringing it down to Rp30,600, and this was another favourite!
The outside was beautifully flaky and crispy, while the filling had a sweet-and-tangy strawberry jam flavour that made every bite enjoyable. I loved the contrast in textures, and it paired nicely with our drinks.

Our total came to Rp150,843, including tax and service charge, after the soft opening discounts.
Not exactly cheap for two drinks and a pastry, but I genuinely enjoyed everything we ordered. Considering the quality of the drinks and pastry, plus the lovely setting, I think it’s worth the price for a special little outing.

Just keep in mind that these were soft opening promotional prices, so the discounts may no longer be available when you visit.

We had a really nice time at Chaniwa Tea House & Bonsai Gallery KBP Bandung. Between the Japanese-inspired garden, beautiful koi pond, impressive bonsai collection, and delicious drinks and pastries, it was such an enjoyable little escape.

The peaceful atmosphere was probably my favourite part. There’s something nice about sitting down with a refreshing matcha, admiring the greenery, and not feeling the need to rush anywhere.

The staff were also friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. My only minor complaints are the slightly secluded location and limited seating, especially if you happen to visit when it’s busy. I’d recommend coming at a quieter time if you want to enjoy the place at a more relaxed pace.

But overall, I’d happily visit again! Whether you’re a matcha lover, a bonsai enthusiast, or simply looking for a pretty Japanese-inspired spot to hang out, Chaniwa is worth checking out.
